History
2007: Starting Out
In their first season, the Cowboys struggled to fill their roster and players often ended up playing both offense and defense. The new team fell short of their goals but gained valuable experience.
2008: Building the Team
During the offseason, the Cowboys focused on recruiting and were able to add some great talent to the team. Two new players, Richard Tolliver and Maurice Mata, took on coaching roles and began working to strengthen the team's organization, discipline, and passion for the game. They also signed on a group of team sponsors and volunteers and built community support for the team. Most importantly, they recruited additional players who were committed to making a lasting and measurable difference for the team, their families, and their community. The Cowboys ended the 2008 season in second place in their conference.
2009: Striving to Win
Since last fall, the Cowboys have continued working to build their program with the help of their sponsors and volunteers. Special thanks are due to the Spartans Youth Football Program and the Round Lake Park District, who authorized the Cowboys to use the Ron Schmidt Football Field for their home field games this year. With the support of their fans, the Cowboys are working very hard to bring a championship to the Round Lake community in 2009!
